About this site

Set in rural North Lincolnshire just outside Burton upon Stather, Acorn Wood is a small, adults-only camping and caravan park with its own fishing pond, a few miles north of Scunthorpe. The site is well sheltered and quiet, surrounded by countryside walks and nature reserves, with Normanby Hall Country Park close by and the Trentside villages within easy reach. Acorn Wood takes tents, trailer tents, caravans and motorhomes on spacious hardstanding pitches, all with electric hook-up and free WiFi, and a new heated toilet and shower block serves the site. Because it is adults-only, the place stays calm and grown-up in feel, and a communal log cabin gives you somewhere to sit with a book, a DVD or a hot drink on a wet day. There is a glamping log pod for two if you want a roof rather than canvas, and the on-site fishing lake is stocked for experienced anglers, though a rod licence is required by law. Two dog-friendly village pubs sit within walking distance, and Burton upon Stather itself is a short stroll for shops and a bus stop. Pitches start from around £28 a night, with electric hook-up a little extra, and the site is open all year, so it is worth booking ahead.
