About this site
Blackland Farm, near East Grinstead in West Sussex, is an outdoor activity centre built around high ropes, archery, canoeing and its own Kingfisher Campsite, and it is no longer run purely as a Girlguiding site. Girlguiding closed the centre at the end of 2023, and it reopened in 2024 under a new local adventure operator who kept camping, indoor accommodation and adventurous activities running on the same 123 acre plot near Ashdown Forest. Kingfisher Campsite now takes public bookings from families and school-holiday campers as well as Scout and Guide groups, schools and youth organisations, with spacious drive-on pitches for tents and campervans. Activities on site include zip wires, tree climbing, abseiling, canoeing and kayaking on the lake, archery and team-building challenges, so Blackland Farm suits anyone wanting an activity-packed few days rather than a quiet countryside pitch. Ashdown Forest is around ten minutes away by car, and the Sussex coast is within an hour's drive. It does not suit campers after solitude or a laid-back farm setting, since group activity is built into the site's whole purpose. Bookings and current pricing for Kingfisher Campsite run through Blackland Farm's own online portal, so check availability directly before planning a trip to East Grinstead.
