About this site

Pitches: 8 Opening Dates: 09/02 To 08/01 A warm welcome awaits visitors at Bonner's Lodge, where chief of staff Raffi the cat oversees a small team of humans, dogs, horses, donkey and goats at this friendly family-run site. Officially its Ken and Michelle that own the place and oversee a handful of hard standing pitches in the grounds of their home and B&B, but there's always a helping hand from canine pals Billy, Billy and Charlie. Make the five-minute drive from the A68 and settle yourself into this rural spot for a hefty dose of peace and quiet. Pitches have splendid views over the surrounding farmland, all part of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The plots have been deliberately well spaced out to give you plenty of room to breathe, so it may be that your nearest Ôneigh-bours will be horses Rosie, Rusty and Ray the donkey in their paddock. If Ray is in the mood then he will give a few donkey rides and Sally and Sue the goats love to be taken for a walk. Well-behaved dogs and human folk are invited to join the party on site and explore the miles of walking paths that lie beyond; you need only amble across the adjacent field to join the Waskerley Way railway path, and there are plenty of other places to stretch your legs nearby too. Kids need not even stray very far to let off steam, as they can just wander over to the sites play area for a bit of swing and slide action. Everything you need for a comfy stay has been supplied here - each pitch has an electrical hook-up and a TV aerial, and theres a chemical disposal point close by. A cosy heated shower block was installed in 2017 and includes useful bits and bobs like hairdryers to keep the travelling barnet in check. If the British weather decrees it possible, you're welcome to light up a barbie on your pitch, and eat outdoors at the garden table. Should it be less than clement, you may prefer to pile in the car and head out for eats - there's a country pub serving up traditional fare 10 minutes away, or you could continue on to Consett, 10 minutes away, for more pubs, restaurants and takeaways. There is also a useful games room with Pool, Table tennis, table football, TV DVD, Books, Toys and games. Cooker, Fridge, Freezer, microwave. Consetts also the place to go for stocking up on essentials at the supermarket; for local treats head over to the farm shop in Knitsley, 10 minutes away, to get your paws on all manner of foodie faves including homemade pies and cakes along with top-quality meat, dairy and veg.
