Why campers love it here
About this site
Pitches: 40 Opening Dates: 26/03 To 31/10 We are a family run site situated in the picturesque Forest of Dean within walking distance of the town of Coleford and the beautiful Wye Valley. 2017 saw the completion of our NEW CENTRALLY HEATED FACILITIES offering new separate ladies and gents showers and toilets, a separate disabled/family wet-room with baby changing facilies and a laundry room. All our pitches have electric hook up (optional). We also have a static caravan for rent from £250 week. We also allow campfires and supply wood. Not far from the Welsh Border and the historic town of Monmouth, there is plenty to see and do in the area and a wealth of beautiful woodland walks and viewpoints. The River Wye and Symonds Yat are a short drive or good walk away with stunning views over the Wye Valley from Yat Rock. The local area has an abundance of good pubs and restaurants and is well known for all types of cycling. There are several cycle hire shops in the area and an extensive network of tracks and mountain biking terrain. The River Wye has a couple of Canoeing Centres offering canoe and kayak hire and also paddleboarding. The Forestry Commission manages the woodland and amenities and their centre at Beechenhurst is well worth a visit as is the Nagshead Bird Reserve at Parkend and Mallards Pike, home to our local Go Ape high rope adverture. Cyril Hart Aboretum is nearby calling for a stop at Speech House for refreshments! We are not far from Offas Dyke for those wanting to walk along this trail and take in the amazing views. Dr Who, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Atlantis have all been filmed locally (largely at Puzzlewood) and this has resulted in the launch of the film & TV trail to allow you to recreate some of your favourite scenes from these magical and inspirational films. Visit Lydney for it's Harbour and enjoy fun at the Crazy Golf nearby. The Caves at Clearwell and the Colliery at Hopewell are both well worth a visit as are Goodrich and Raglan's Castles and the Abbey at Tinern. Our local town of Coleford boasts two high quality Golf Courses and there is a swimming pool at our local leisure centre which also offers tennis, badminton and squash courts. Clay-pigeon shooting and archery are available within a few miles (booking advisable) - there is no shortage of things to do and see. £8 per night for Adults £5 per night for under 18's and optional £4 per night for electric hook up.
