About this site

Opening Dates: March To October Gwerniago campsite is located in the heartland of rural Wales,in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park. Gwerniago is a working farm run by a Welsh speaking family. The campsite is situated just outside the village of Pennal in the beautiful Dyfi(Dovey) Valley. There is a modern facilities block situated on the campsite. Facilities include a family room with bath, gents and ladies showers, individual toilets amd a disabled shower room. Showers are free and there is hot water for washing up. Customers chose their own space when camping on a grass pitch without electric, at peak times pitches with electric have to be allocated.Enjoy a campfire near your tent and take in the lovely views around you. If possible please bring your own fire basket. Free WiFi is available onsite. Static caravan available for booking for weekly or short breaks(min 2 nights)next to the campsite. Take the stress out of towing or putting up a tent and book our on site touring caravan with everything set up for you when you arrive. Available for weekly or nightly(min 2 nights) bookings. Seasonal pitches also available. The area around the farm is ideally suited for bird watching and walking. Some of our regular visitors are the Red Kite. With good binoculars it is possible to view the Dyfi Ospreys nest from the campsite. We are near the RSPB reserve at Ynyshir, a past location of the BBC Spring Watch series. The campsite is popular with walkers, cyclists and families;the site offers elevated views over the Dyfi Valley, woodlands, and riverside walks. The campsite is an ideal base for the golden beaches at Aberdovey and Borth, walking Cader Idris and the coastal path, cycling Mach 1,2,3 and Climax and Coed y Brenin (40 mins drive)and watching the planes at Mach Loop. Pony rides for the younger children can be arranged at the farmhouse in the evening, weather permitting. The campsite is within walking distance of the village of Pennal where there are two popular eating places, The Riverside/Glan yr afon Hotel and Y Garth at Plas Talgarth. There are several sporting activities within easy reach of the campsite including sea and fresh water fishing, clay pigeon shooting, mountain bike Centre, boarding centre, kite surfing hire and tuition, swimming pool and leisure centre. The local area also caters for less energetic activities with its miles of golden beaches, historical attractions, country walks and endless supplies of peace and quiet.
