Grass, and only grass: Kessingland Camping and Caravanning Club Site is a Club-owned campsite on the Suffolk coast where every pitch is grass, most of them level, with no hardstandings anywhere on the park. It sits on Whites Lane at Kessingland (NR33 7TF), just over a mile from a long sand and shingle beach, four miles from Lowestoft and its train station, and half an hour's drive from Great Yarmouth. The site takes tents, caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and rooftop tents, with or without electric hook-up, and jumbo grass pitches for units over 5m by 9m. Two things are worth knowing before you commit: wind turbines stand next to the site and you will hear them, and the TV signal is poor. The ground is hard but drains well. What genuinely sets Kessingland apart is the neighbour, because Africa Alive wildlife park is right next door and you reach the campsite down its shared driveway, so lions are a five-minute walk rather than a day trip. Facilities include showers, a family shower room, accessible facilities, a shop, a children's play area, a motorhome service point, laundry and Club Site Wi-Fi, and a bus stop sits 300m from the entrance.
