About this site

Small, simple and priced to match, Moss Hagg Farm Campsite is a 25-pitch farm site on the wooded western edge of Selby in North Yorkshire, about 20 miles from the centre of York. The site takes its name from the neighbouring patch of woodland, which children are free to explore, and a pub serving real ales and good food sits a five minute drive away. Eight pitches have metered electric hook-ups reserved for caravans and motorhomes, while 17 further pitches take tents and units without electric; hook-up is not permitted in tents, so tent campers should arrive prepared to go without power. Facilities are modest but practical: a toilet and shower building (showers are £2 for five minutes), a washing-up room, a chemical disposal point, grey waste disposal and drinking water taps around the site. Open fires are banned and barbecues have been suspended over fire risk, day visitors are not allowed, and the atmosphere is deliberately relaxed with minimal rules. This is honest, no-frills camping near Selby rather than a holiday park, and it suits couples and families who want peace at a fair price. Moss Hagg Farm Campsite opens from 30 April to 7 September 2026, with pitches from £25 a night for two adults and up to three children.

Good to know

How much does Moss Hagg Farm Campsite cost per night?
A pitch without electric costs £25 a night and an electric pitch costs £28, based on two adults and three children per unit. Extra children are £2 a night, extra adults £5, and a gazebo adds £1. Showers are coin operated at £2 for five minutes.
When is Moss Hagg Farm Campsite open?
The campsite opens from 30 April until 7 September 2026, so it is strictly a late spring and summer site. The farm's holiday cottages take bookings all year round if you want to visit outside the camping season. Arrivals are after 3pm and departures before 10am.
Are campfires allowed at Moss Hagg Farm Campsite?
No, open fires are not permitted, and the owners have also suspended barbecues because of fire risk in dry conditions. Check the current position with the site before you travel if a barbecue matters to your trip, and take care to extinguish cigarettes properly while on site.
Do pitches at Moss Hagg Farm Campsite have electric hook-up?
Some do. Eight pitches have metered electric hook-ups, and these are for caravans and motorhomes only; hook-up is not allowed in tents. A further 17 pitches have no electric at all. Hook-up cards are available from the site office, and drinking water taps are placed around the site.
How far is Moss Hagg Farm Campsite from York and Selby?
The campsite sits on the western outskirts of Selby, around three miles from the town itself, and about 20 miles from the centre of York. Leeds is roughly the same distance in the other direction, and a pub serving real ales and food is a five minute drive away.
Is Moss Hagg Farm Campsite family friendly?
Yes, the standard pitch price covers two adults and up to three children, and the woodland that gives the farm its name is popular with kids for exploring. It is a quiet, simple farm site though, with no playground, clubhouse or entertainment, so children make their own fun here.
