Otterington Park

Otterington Park is a holiday park these days, not a campsite: a quiet Vale of York park at South Otterington, 4 miles south of Northallerton and 5 miles north of Thirsk, given over to seasonal touring pitches and holiday homes, with no nightly touring or tent camping on offer. Now run by Flower of May Holiday Parks, it is set up for two kinds of stay: seasonal touring, where your caravan stays put from spring right through, on certain pitches, into January, and holiday home ownership, with static caravans and lodges for sale. Seasonal tourers get spacious hardstandings screened by established trees and shrubs, metered electric hook up, fully serviced pitches in the newest area, modern shower blocks, laundry and dishwashing facilities, and a small shop for essentials. The standout features are a fully stocked private fishing lake (bring a rod licence and buy a permit at reception), nature trails around the grounds, children's play areas and a dedicated dog exercise field, so families and dogs are both properly catered for. Northallerton's market town shops, Thirsk, Sutton Bank and the western edge of the North York Moors are all short drives away. Anyone wanting a one night stopover should look at touring parks instead; for a season long base in North Yorkshire, Otterington Park is a tidy choice, with pitch fees quoted through the Flower of May booking team.
