About this site

Parkwood Activity Centre is a small Certificated Site under the Camping and Caravanning Club, based at the Parkwood off-road and outdoor centre in the village of Tong, between Bradford and Leeds in West Yorkshire. As a CS it is a five-van members scheme site that also takes tents, so it works for tent campers, caravans and motorhomes alike, though there is no electric hook-up, so come prepared to be off-grid. The pitches are a mix of hardstanding and grass with water and a chemical disposal point, and there are toilets on site but no showers, which keeps things simple. Tong is a quiet, green spot yet close to everything: it is around 4 miles from both Bradford and Leeds and only about 10 minutes from the M62. Families are well catered for nearby, with the Greyhound pub a five-minute walk away, Goodall's ice cream parlour about ten minutes on foot, and Tong Garden Centre, complete with cafes and a play area, a similar stroll. The activity centre itself runs 4x4 off-road driving and outdoor sessions, so there is more to do than just pitch up. Note that a strict no-dogs policy applies, so this one is not for campers travelling with a dog. Bookings and current pitch prices are arranged directly through Parkwood.

Good to know

Are dogs allowed at Parkwood Activity Centre?
No, Parkwood operates a strict no-dogs policy, so you cannot bring a dog to the campsite. If you are travelling with a pet, this site will not suit your trip, and you would be better looking at one of the dog-friendly certificated sites elsewhere around Bradford and Leeds.
Is there electric hook-up at Parkwood Activity Centre?
No, there is no electric hook-up at Parkwood, so you should arrive prepared to camp off-grid with your own power. Pitches are a mix of hardstanding and grass with water and a chemical disposal point, and there are toilets on site, though no showers are provided.
Can I bring a tent to Parkwood Activity Centre?
Yes, Parkwood takes tents as well as caravans and motorhomes, so tent campers are welcome. As a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site it is a small setup, and pitches include both grass and hardstanding, giving you flexible options whether you are under canvas or in a touring unit.
Are there showers at Parkwood Activity Centre?
No, there are toilets on site but no showers, so this is a simple, back-to-basics campsite. There is water and a chemical disposal point for touring units. The Greyhound pub is a five-minute walk away, and Tong Garden Centre with cafes is about ten minutes on foot.
How far is Parkwood Activity Centre from Bradford and the M62?
Parkwood sits in the village of Tong, roughly 4 miles from both Bradford and Leeds, and only about 10 minutes from the M62. Despite feeling green and rural, it is well placed for city visits, and the on-site activity centre also runs 4x4 off-road driving sessions.
How do I book Parkwood Activity Centre?
Bookings and current pitch prices are arranged directly through Parkwood, via the activity centre. As a five-van Certificated Site it has limited space, so it is worth contacting them ahead, especially at weekends and during school holidays when the Tong campsite and activity centre are busier.
