About this site

Red House Farm Certificated Site is a five-van, members-only pitch on a working farm half a mile outside Haughley in Mid Suffolk. Stowmarket and its mainline station are about 2 miles away, Bury St Edmunds is roughly 12 miles west, and a bus route passes the farm, which makes a car-free trip here genuinely workable. As a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site, Red House Farm takes up to 5 caravans or motorhomes plus tents, and you must be a Club member to book: you cannot simply turn up as a non-member. Every pitch has an electric hook-up and hard standing is an option, but there are no toilets or showers on site at all, so this one is built for self-contained vans and rules out any tent camper who needs facilities. The field runs to 1.8 acres, level and well sheltered, with a designated dog walk, and Haughley village a few minutes down the lane has a shop and a pub. The same family also lets self-catering cottages on the farm, so the place is properly kept rather than a forgotten corner of a field. The season runs 1 March to 31 October, booking is by phone, email or post only with no online option, and pitches start from £20 a night with electric hook-up.

Good to know

Do you need to be a member to stay at Red House Farm Certificated Site?
Yes, Red House Farm is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site and the owners state they can only take bookings from Club members. Non-members cannot book. You can join through the Camping and Caravanning Club website before you travel, and membership then opens up the Club's wider network of small member-only sites.
How many pitches does Red House Farm Certificated Site have?
Certificated Site rules cap Red House Farm at 5 caravans or motorhomes at any one time, plus up to 10 tents or trailer tents. The field is 1.8 acres, level and well sheltered. Every pitch has an electric hook-up, and you can choose grass, hardstanding with hook-up, or hardstanding only.
Are there toilets and showers at Red House Farm Certificated Site?
No, and this is the single most important thing to know. The owners state plainly that they offer no shower or WC facilities whatsoever. The site is designed for caravans and motorhomes carrying their own washroom. Tent campers and anyone without on-board facilities should look elsewhere in the Stowmarket area.
When is Red House Farm Certificated Site open?
No, it is not open all year: the caravan site season runs from 1 March to 31 October only, confirmed on both the farm's own website and its Camping and Caravanning Club listing for 2026. The site closes over the winter, so plan any Suffolk trip between those dates.
Are dogs allowed at Red House Farm Certificated Site?
Yes, pets are welcome at Red House Farm and the site has a designated dog walk, which is handy on a working farm. Haughley village is half a mile away with footpaths and quiet lanes for longer walks, and Mid Suffolk generally has good walking, cycling and bird watching close by.
How much is a pitch at Red House Farm Certificated Site and how do you book?
Pitches are from £20 a night with electric hook-up, per the farm's own tariff page. Online booking is not available for the caravan site: you must reserve by phone on 01449 673323, or by email or post. Advance booking is advisable, and rally bookings are arranged the same way.
