About this site

Secret Meadows Luxury Camping is a glamping-only site spread across a private nature reserve of more than 100 acres at White House Farm in Hasketon, a couple of miles north of Woodbridge in Suffolk. Sutton Hoo sits about three miles away and Ipswich around seven, the Suffolk Coast AONB is a short drive east, and London is roughly two hours off. Nine units make up the site: six luxury safari tents, two of them with hot tubs, a two storey safari tent sleeping eight, Gypsy's Rest, which pairs a gypsy caravan with a shepherd's hut and a wood fired soaking tub, and the Horsebox Hideaway. Turn up with your own tent or a tourer and you will be turning straight back out again, because there are no touring pitches here whatsoever. Each unit has a kitchen, a wood burning stove, a private loo and shower, and electricity is now included throughout. Profits go to the Sinfield Nature Conservation Trust, the charity behind the reserve, so your stay pays for the wildlife around you. Dogs cost £29 each and get their own enclosed dog park, though the rest of the reserve is off limits to them. Goat walking and food hampers are bookable extras. Secret Meadows runs from April to October and prices are quoted through the operator's booking calendar.

Good to know

Can I pitch my own tent or bring a caravan to Secret Meadows?
No, Secret Meadows is glamping only. The site has nine ready made units: six luxury safari tents, a two storey safari tent, Gypsy's Rest and the Horsebox Hideaway. There are no touring pitches for tents, caravans or motorhomes anywhere on the reserve.
Are dogs allowed at Secret Meadows?
Yes, dogs are welcome throughout the glamping season for a fee of £29 per dog. There is an enclosed dog park where they can run around off the lead. Dogs cannot go into the wider nature reserve, which runs a no dogs policy, and the Horsebox Hideaway takes one small dog.
When is Secret Meadows open?
Secret Meadows runs a glamping season from April to October and closes over winter. Arrival is between 4pm and 6pm and departure is by 10am. Early arrival from 2pm and late checkout until midday can be booked in advance for a £29 fee per option.
Is Secret Meadows suitable for families or is it adults only?
Yes, families are the core of this site, and the operator reserves certain dates for family bookings only, covering Easter, the late May break and the summer holidays. Groups of more than one couple sharing a unit are accepted outside those dates at the owners' discretion.
Do any of the tents have hot tubs?
Yes, two of the six luxury safari tents have hot tubs, one large and one mini. Gypsy's Rest has an outdoor wood fired soaking tub instead. Every unit includes a kitchen, a wood burning stove and a private loo and shower, and electricity is included throughout.
How much does it cost to stay at Secret Meadows?
Prices are quoted through the booking calendar on the Secret Meadows website rather than published as a flat rate, and they vary by unit and by date. Rates include ready made beds, towels and kitchen linen. Bring your own linen and a £50 discount applies.
