About this site
Pitches: 16 Opening Dates: 01/03 To 31/10 A new, family owned site in the lovely village of Awre, set in open countryside with big skies and starry nights. Our site is set amidst farmland adjacent to the family farm. We offer our guests a small, well designed site with 16 spacious, grass touring pitches including electric hookup, some with hard standing and fully serviced. There is a purpose built toilet and shower block and a disabled shower room. An outdoor, undercover dish washing area is provided. Facilities for ice pack freezing available on request. We also have 1 luxury ensuite Shepherd's Hut for up to 2 people. We regret that due to the proximity to farm land and farm animals no dogs are allowed on site, unless they are guide dogs for the blind. An ideal spot for enjoying nature at its best, sit back and look out for kestrels, buzzards and occasional red kite. If you are up with the lark you might spot a hare in the field or at dusk a barn owl quartering silently around the site and in adjacent fields. Walkers will enjoy the Severn Way which is only half a mile away, a place where the haunting sound of the curlew is something you can never tire of, also the lapwing and skylark. The River Severn provides a spectacular back drop, high tide or low tide, a special place to be whatever the weather and of course, the Severn Bore is a natural phenomenon not to be missed, check the timetables to see if one is due during your stay. Located within easy reach of the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley the site is a perfect base for visiting attractions, taking part in outdoor pursuits or shopping in the market towns. Everything you need for your stay can be found in the nearby villages of Blakeney and Newnham. If you enjoy a barbeque there is an excellent butcher in Newnham (open Thursday to Saturday) or Cinderford (Monday to Saturday). Perhaps you like to spoil yourself occasionally - there are takeaways and hostelries in Blakeney and Newnham too.
