Why campers love it here
About this site
The small members only campsite on the medieval Baxby Manor estate at Husthwaite is Skonoker, a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site in the Vale of York, roughly 3 miles from Easingwold and 7 miles from Thirsk in North Yorkshire. Despite the Certificated Location tag it carries in some listings, the Club lists it among its Certificated Sites, which means Club members only, with space for up to five caravans or motorhomes plus tents on a level, well sheltered plot of about three quarters of an acre. Pitches are hardstanding with electric hook up, wifi is available and dogs are welcome. The name comes from a house recorded on the Baxby estate as far back as 1606, and the surrounding countryside sits between the Howardian Hills and the southern edge of the North York Moors, with Byland Abbey, the White Horse at Kilburn and Easingwold market place all within easy reach. It is listed as an adults only site, so it suits couples after a genuinely quiet base rather than families; the estate runs The Hideaway, a separate family campsite, close by. The 2026 season at Skonoker runs from 3 April to 31 October, with member prices listed from £15 a night through the Club booking system.
