Why campers love it here
About this site
Pitches: 100 Opening Dates: Open All Year Wasdale campsite nestles under the Scafell mountain range at the head of beautiful Wastwater, the deepest lake in England, with its distinctive Nordic character and the pyramidal peak of Great Gable reflected in its waters. This stunning place is attractive for its remoteness and tranquillity. In addition to regular camping pitches, the site has 7 heated camping pods, 2 Nordic tipis with wood burning stoves, as well as 11 campervan pitches with hardstandings and electric hook up. England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, is within striking distance from the site as are many other high fell walking routes. As the birthplace of British rock climbing, Wasdale offers true mountaineering in the surrounding fells. A great base for climbers of all abilities, the valley offers classic routes such as Napes Needle and Central Buttress. Our staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the area and will be happy to answer your questions. Be sure to ask for advice about the best walking routes if youre unfamiliar with the area. Please note: in order to preserve the peaceful nature of this site, parties of more than 4 adults are not accepted. Organised groups can be accepted by prior arrangement with the site only.
