White House Farm

White House Farm is a small, family-run campsite spread over 4 acres of flat grassland in the quiet village of Misterton, on the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire border near Gainsborough. Run by Phil and Chris with wardens Lavender and Paul, it sits in gentle walking and cycling country, with the Chesterfield Canal running through the village, Bawtry about 4 miles west and Gainsborough around 7 miles away over the Trent. Pitches are on grass or hardstanding with electric hook-ups, and family tents, caravans and motorhomes are all welcome, though there are no toilet or shower facilities on site, so your own sanitation is essential and this is not the place for anyone expecting a full amenity block. What campers come back for is the easy-going field, a well-stocked coarse fishing pond holding carp, roach, bream, tench and perch, a children's play area, and a genuinely handy village on the doorstep with a butcher, Co-op, chip shop and dog-friendly pubs all within walking distance. Campfires are part of the appeal here, though it is worth confirming the current fire rules when you book. White House Farm is open from 1 March to 31 October, with pitches from £18 a night, and booking ahead by phone is advised, especially for the site's popular Party on the Field weekend near Misterton.
