You may see deer, song thrushes or rabbits by your pitch at this site, which is perfect for families. Kendal is close by. It has good restaurants and shopping facilities. It is also home to the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, the Museum of Lakeland Life and the Kendal Museum. The town of Bowness-on-Windermere has the World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Lake District Visitor Centre. The Aquarium of the Lakes shows aquatic life from the river, lake, sea and bay. The Dales Way long-distance footpath is a mile and a half from the site. Follow it into Windermere and take the train back to Staveley station.
