Winter House Farm

Winter House Farm is a back-to-basics tent campsite on the moor edge above Cowling, in the Ickornshaw area of West Yorkshire, set up mainly for walkers on the Pennine Way. The camping field is a sloping meadow behind the owners' bed and breakfast, roughly 200 metres off the Pennine Way and below Earl Crag with its Wainman's Pinnacle and Lund's Tower landmarks. Cowling village, with a pub and a shop, is about a ten minute walk, Keighley is around five miles to the south east, and Haworth and Brontë country lie a short drive away. This is a tent site only, with no pitches for caravans or motorhomes, so touring vehicles should book elsewhere. Around ten pitches share simple, clean facilities: a toilet block, hot showers and drinking water, but no electric hook up, though there is a small hut where campers can charge a phone and boil a kettle. Dogs and families are welcome, and the owners are widely praised for a warm welcome, even ferrying gear up from the car park by tractor. It suits hikers, cyclists and tent campers who want a proper overnight stop rather than a facility-packed park.
