Why campers love it here
About this site
Wood Lake Campsite is an adults-only camping and caravan retreat set in eight acres of woodland near Great Hatfield, a short drive inland from the Hornsea coast in East Yorkshire. The grounds wrap around a one-acre lake and a two-acre wood, the beaches at Mappleton and Hornsea are only a few minutes away by car, and Hull and Beverley both sit about twenty minutes off. You can pitch a caravan, motorhome or campervan on level grass or hardstanding with electric hook-up, and tent campers get their own woodland spots that also suit hammock camping. This is a quiet, grown-up site rather than a family park, so it works best for couples, dog owners and anyone after birdsong over bustle. Dogs are welcome and there is an off-lead enclosure for them, while the toilets and showers are kept clean and free to use. The lake and woods draw kingfishers, buzzards and other wildlife, and with no light pollution the night sky here is properly dark. The Wrygarth Inn sits about five minutes on foot in the village. Wood Lake stays open all year, and pitches cost from £25 a night without electric for up to four adults, or £30 with a hook-up, booked by phone with the owner.
