About this site

YHA Land's End is a small, independently run YHA partner hostel and walkers' campsite in Cot Valley near St Just in west Cornwall, and it is currently closed for reconfiguration and refurbishment with no reopening date published. The site sits in a sheltered valley between Cape Cornwall and Land's End, five minutes from the South West Coast Path and 15 minutes on foot from St Just, with Porth Nanven beach (known as Dinosaur Egg Beach for its rounded granite boulders) at the mouth of the valley. The offer here is deliberately simple: exclusive hire of the whole hostel, two camping pods overlooking the sea, and a limited number of tent pitches reserved for coast path walkers arriving on foot, so touring caravans, motorhomes and drive-up campers are not catered for. Facilities include a self catering kitchen, licensed bar, dining room, drying room and free parking, with an outdoor washing up and food prep area for campers and pod guests. Guests rate the spot highly (4.6 on Google from 116 reviews), and the 5.9 mile clifftop walk from the door to Land's End via Sennen Cove is a brilliant way to earn a pasty. Check yha.org.uk for YHA Land's End reopening updates before planning a trip to this quiet corner of Cornwall.

Good to know

Is YHA Land's End currently open?
No, YHA Land's End is closed for reconfiguration and refurbishment, and no reopening date has been published as of July 2026. The YHA website still lists the hostel, so check yha.org.uk or call YHA on 0345 371 9643 before planning a stay in Cot Valley.
Can I camp at YHA Land's End?
Yes, but only if you arrive on foot. The site offers a limited number of tent pitches reserved for South West Coast Path walkers, plus two camping pods overlooking the sea. There is no provision for touring caravans, motorhomes or campers arriving by car, and no electric hook-ups.
Are dogs allowed at YHA Land's End?
No, dogs are not permitted for standard stays. Well behaved dogs are allowed when the whole hostel is booked on exclusive hire, though dogs that bark excessively are refused, and assistance dogs are welcome with advance notice. Check the policy again once the site reopens after refurbishment.
How far is the beach from YHA Land's End?
Porth Nanven beach sits at the mouth of Cot Valley, a short walk downhill from the hostel. It is known as Dinosaur Egg Beach for its rounded granite boulders, and the South West Coast Path itself passes within five minutes of the site, with St Just a 15 minute walk away.
What facilities does YHA Land's End have?
The hostel has a self catering kitchen, licensed bar, dining room, drying room, garden, free parking and WiFi in the social spaces. Campers and pod guests use a separate outdoor washing up and food preparation area rather than the main kitchen, and there is a shared laundry and drying room.
How much does it cost to stay at YHA Land's End?
Prices are not currently published because the site is closed for refurbishment. When trading, bookings for exclusive hire, the camping pods and walker camping are quoted through YHA's booking system at yha.org.uk, so check there for rates once a reopening date is announced.
