About this site

YHA Malham is a purpose built 1930s hostel in the centre of Malham village in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with two heated timber camping pods in its grounds for anyone who wants to sleep outdoors without carrying a tent. Malham Cove is about a mile's walk away, Gordale Scar and the Janet's Foss waterfall are similarly close, and both the Pennine Way and the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway pass through the village, so boots and bikes set the tone here. Each pod sleeps two on single beds with bedding and a heater supplied, and pod guests can use the hostel facilities, including the licensed restaurant and bar, a self catering kitchen, a drying room and limited free parking. There are no tent pitches, no caravan or motorhome pitches and no hook-ups, so this is a glamping stop for walkers and cyclists rather than a campsite; the nearest YHA tent camping in the Dales is at Grinton Lodge near Reeth. Dogs stay in the pods for £5 a night each, while only assistance dogs are allowed inside the hostel itself. Pod and room prices at YHA Malham vary by date and are quoted through YHA's online booking system.

Good to know

What glamping does YHA Malham offer?
YHA Malham has two wooden camping pods in the hostel grounds, each sleeping two people on single beds with bedding provided. The pods are heated, so they work well beyond high summer, and pod guests are a short stroll from the hostel's restaurant, bar and self catering kitchen.
Can I pitch a tent at YHA Malham?
No, YHA Malham does not offer tent pitches, and there are no caravan or motorhome pitches or hook-ups either. The accommodation is hostel rooms plus the two camping pods. YHA's nearest campsite for tents in the Yorkshire Dales is at YHA Grinton Lodge, near Reeth in Swaledale.
Are dogs allowed at YHA Malham?
Yes, dogs can stay in the camping pods at YHA Malham for a charge of £5 per dog per night, payable on arrival. Pets are not permitted inside the hostel accommodation itself, although assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building. Mention your dog when you make the booking.
How far is Malham Cove from YHA Malham?
Malham Cove is about a mile's walk north of YHA Malham along a well used path from the village. Gordale Scar and the Janet's Foss waterfall are also within easy walking distance, and Malham Tarn sits further up on the moor, making a fine circular day walk.
How much does a night at YHA Malham cost?
Prices for the camping pods and hostel rooms at YHA Malham vary by date and demand, and are quoted through YHA's online booking system rather than as a fixed nightly rate. Booking direct with YHA shows live availability for the pods, private rooms and shared accommodation.
