About this site

Ashfield Touring Caravan Park is a family run site of 40 pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents at Dunnington, a village about 10 minutes' drive east of York. The park sits on Hagg Lane in quiet North Yorkshire farmland, with a country lane into woodland at the end of the drive for dog walks, two bus routes and a Park and Ride close by for car free trips into York, and the coast, the Moors and the Dales all within about an hour. Pitches are level, with 16A metered electric hookups, backed by a heated shower and toilet block, a camping kitchen with freezer, laundry and dishwashing rooms, an accessible toilet and shower room, and a licensed on site shop selling basics and Calor refills. It suits couples and families after a tidy, orderly base rather than a party field: campfires, fire pits and disposable barbecues are banned, electric vehicle charging is not offered, unaccompanied under 18s are refused, and tents are capped at 5.5 metres. Children get a play area with picnic space and shared barbecues, and up to two dogs per pitch are welcome at 50p a night. Ashfield closes for January and February and opens the rest of the year, with pitches from £25 a night including two people.

Good to know

Are dogs allowed at Ashfield Touring Caravan Park?
Yes, responsible owners can bring up to two dogs at 50p per dog per night, and the park asks you to make contact in advance if you have more. A country lane at the end of the drive leads into woodland for walks, though dogs are not allowed in the play area.
Can I have a campfire at Ashfield Touring Caravan Park?
No, fires, fire pits and naked flames of any kind are banned, and that includes disposable barbecues. Barbecues raised on legs off the ground are allowed, and there are shared Aussie style barbecues by the picnic area. Paddling pools and electric vehicle charging are also not permitted.
How much does it cost to stay at Ashfield Touring Caravan Park?
Pitches cost from £25 a night in low season, £27 in high season and £32 on bank holidays, including two people. Extra people aged 3 and over are £2, awnings £2 and dogs 50p. Electricity is metered by smart card and single nights carry a £5 supplement.
When is Ashfield Touring Caravan Park open?
The park closes for January and February and is open for the rest of the year. Minimum stays apply at busy times: 4 nights at Easter, 3 nights on other bank holidays and 2 nights on high season weekends. Arrivals run from 1pm to 7pm, departures by 11am.
Does Ashfield Touring Caravan Park take tents?
Yes, tents pitch alongside caravans and motorhomes across the 40 pitches, but size is limited: one side must be 5 metres or less, with an overall cap of 5.5 metres to maintain fire spacing. Tent pitches do not always get electric hookup during peak periods, so check when booking.
Is Ashfield Touring Caravan Park a good base for visiting York?
Yes, the park is at Dunnington, about 10 minutes' drive from York, with two local bus services and a Park and Ride nearby for car free sightseeing. The Yorkshire coast, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are all within roughly an hour's drive of the site.
