About this site

Pitches: 44 Opening Dates: March To October Cumbria's best kept secret is how we like to describe Blaithwaite. Located close to the small market town of Wigton, the campsite is situated in the grounds of Blaithwaite House country estate with amazing views of the Solway Firth and across to Scotland for you to sit, relax and enjoy. The estate is made up of 200 acres of beautiful Cumbrian countryside and you will have access to 50 acres of woodland to explore, you can walk for over 3.5kms on our walking route and not even leave the estate! Maps are available upon request. The Lake District national park is right on the doorstep with the town of Keswick a 30 minute drive away or if you fancy getting some fresh sea air the Solway coast is just 15 minutes by car or perfectly accessible if you prefer to cycle there! If you want to go a bit further afield then why not take a trip to the Scottish border and Gretna Green which is a 45 minute drive. Although in a rural location, surrounded by farmland the nearest town, Wigton, is just 5 miles away. There are 2 fab local pubs serving homemade food nearby or onsite there is a designated bbq & fire pit area. Facilities include brand new individual toilet and showers for your privacy and plenty of hot water thanks to our eco-friendly woodchip biomass boilers. There are several washing up areas, fridges & freezer. All site amenities are located on the campfield. There are 12 electric hook ups and a overflow camping field if required during busy periods. Keep your little ones entertained with our children's play areas and large footie and playing fields and dont forget to come and say hello to Snowy the goat, and her chicken friends! For larger groups why not try a game of lasertag in the woods, and believe us when we say the adults have just as much fun as the kids do (maybe even more!) This is an activity which requires pre- booking. As well as the campsite Blaithwaite house is used as a self-catering venue for weddings, group and family holidays (some of the grounds are used exclusively for this on certain days, please check prior to booking if you think this may impact on your stay.) Access is always available to the facilities mentioned above.
