About this site

Brightlycott Barton is a small, family run caravan and camping site on a working farm near Shirwell, just outside Barnstaple in North Devon. The four acre, south facing field has wide panoramic views and sits neatly between Exmoor to the east and the north Devon beaches to the west, which makes it a genuinely well placed base for exploring both. There are 23 pitches with electric hook up, plus extra space for tents, and the pitches are generous in size so no one feels hemmed in. The farm has moved away from livestock towards regenerative farming, sowing herbal leys and planting native trees, so the setting is quiet and green. This is a back to basics, peaceful site rather than a facilities heavy park: expect a tidy toilet and shower block, free use of a washing machine and fridge freezer, and a small games room with table tennis, but no pool or bar. It suits campers who want calm countryside and easy access to the coast rather than on site entertainment. The sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are a short drive, and Exmoor is close for walking. Dogs are welcome, with a tree lined lane alongside for walks. The site opens for the 2026 season from around early April to mid October, with small tent pitches from GBP 15 a night for two.
