Chinley Camping

Chinley Camping is a small, family run campsite on a smallholding on the edge of Chinley village, with views over the surrounding Peak District National Park. Katie and Henry Rockliff moved here in 2014, set up their smallholding and opened the campsite in the summer of 2019, and they have been steadily adding to the facilities to make camping here more inclusive. It is a genuinely small and simple spot, with around ten pitches, so it suits campers after a quiet, low key stay rather than a big resort style park. You share the place with a flock of Icelandic sheep, whose wool is turned into products sold on site, and there is even a wood fired sauna to warm up in after a day on the hills. Campfires are part of the deal here, which is a treat on a clear Peak District night. Chinley sits in the High Peak, handy for walking country around Chapel-en-le-Frith, Hayfield and the Kinder Scout moors, and the village has a train station on the Manchester line, so you can arrive without a car. Chinley Camping is open all year, and the owners are happy to answer questions about your stay, with bookings taken directly. This is proper back to basics camping with a friendly, hands on welcome.
