Why campers love it here
About this site
Cloud Farm Camping is a relaxed, riverside campsite on the banks of Badgworthy Water in Exmoor's Lorna Doone Valley, near Oare and Lynton in North Devon. Run by the National Trust since 2020, it offers 58 places for tents, campervans and motorhomes, plus a row of camping pods set on higher ground to catch the evening sun. Campervans and motorhomes can pick hardstanding pitches with electric hook up or grass pitches without, but the site cannot take caravans because of access restrictions, so tourers should note that early. Facilities include showers, toilets, a washing up area, a shop and chemical disposal, and campfires are allowed on the camping pitches. This suits walkers, families and campers who want nature on the doorstep and a fire in the evening, and it will not suit anyone after a caravan pitch or a full facility holiday park. The riverside setting and the walking are the real draw: trails run to Oare Church, Dunkery Beacon and the South West Coast Path, and semi wild Exmoor ponies roam the valley. Two dogs are welcome per pitch. Cloud Farm Camping is open from late March to early November and is booked through the National Trust, with National Trust members getting free entry to nearby places during their stay.
