About this site

Pitch up at Cosy Camping Suffolk and you are camping on a working arable farm at Bucklesham, about six miles east of Ipswich and five miles inland from Felixstowe. Cars stay off the camping field entirely: you park in a private car park and the grass is left clear for kids and games. Tent pitches are grass and non-electric, one tent per pitch, taking up to six people with a maximum of four adults. If canvas is not your thing, there are eight camping pods, a converted grain silo and a bell tent, all with underfloor heating, which is why Cosy Camping Suffolk works in February as well as August. This is not a site for tourers: no caravans or motorhomes are taken, though a couple of spaces exist for campervans and roof tents in a separate area, and no dogs are allowed anywhere on site. Campfires are allowed in the site's own firepits, hired at £5 a stay and burning logs bought on site at £6 a net, a rule the arable farm's insurance sets rather than the owners. Facilities cover showers, a family and accessible wet room, extra toilets, a wash-up area and a small shop, and there is open space for outdoor games. Sutton Hoo and the Suffolk coast are both an easy drive. The site is open all year, with tent pitches from £20 a night midweek.

Good to know

Is Cosy Camping Suffolk open all year?
Yes, the site is open all year round. The eight camping pods and the converted grain silo all have underfloor heating, which makes a winter stay realistic rather than an endurance test. Tent pitches are available year round too, though you are on an open working farm field.
Are dogs allowed at Cosy Camping Suffolk?
No, dogs and other pets are not allowed anywhere on site, in the pods, the silo, the bell tent or on the tent pitches. This is a standing site rule rather than a seasonal restriction, so make alternative arrangements for your dog before you book a stay.
Can you have a campfire at Cosy Camping Suffolk?
Yes, but only in firepits hired from the site at £5 for your stay, burning logs bought on site at £6 a net. The site is a working arable farm and its insurance sets the rule. BBQs are fine if raised off the ground, but disposable BBQs are banned.
Can you take a caravan or motorhome to Cosy Camping Suffolk?
No, the site takes no caravans or motorhomes at all, and vehicles are not allowed to stay on the main camping field. There are a couple of spaces for campervans or roof tents in a separate area, but you need to ring or email ahead to check availability.
How much are tent pitches at Cosy Camping Suffolk?
Tent pitches are from £20 a night Monday to Thursday and £30 a night Friday to Sunday, based on two people. Extra adults are £10 a night and extra children £5. Each grass pitch takes one tent and up to six people, with a maximum of four adults.
Where is Cosy Camping Suffolk and what is nearby?
The site is at Bucklesham, roughly six miles east of Ipswich and five miles inland from Felixstowe, so the Suffolk coast is close without you camping on it. Sutton Hoo at Woodbridge is an easy drive, and there are pubs at Bucklesham, Newbourne and Waldringfield.
