Why campers love it here
About this site
This is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site, which accept caravans or motorhomes and usually tents. This is a club member only site - you can usually join on site Pitches: 5 vans and 10 tents Opening Dates: Open All Year We are a quiet, relaxed, dog and family friendly site on a level, 2 acre field sheltered by stone walls and mature, native trees. We are in a peaceful rural location within the Lake District National Park, giving easy access to the Haweswater and Shap fells and the Lowther Valley. We love to have a fire when we go camping ourselves so we are quite happy for you to have a fire/ BBQ, as long as it is off the ground. We usually have wood available to buy. The Coast-to-Coast path runs very nearby making us an alternative to the ''standard' overnight stop at Shap. We always have an up to date weather forecast available for walkers or those heading out on day trips. There are excellent local facilities with an award winning fish and chip shop, cooperative supermarket ( stocking fresh bakery items from Bryson's of Keswick), Abbey Coffee Shop, New Balance running shoe/ clothing shop, butcher, Post Office, outdoor heated pool and various pubs all in Shap Excellent rural pub, The Crown and Mitre at Bampton Grange, 2 miles by road or a 40 minute stroll. About 12 miles away, Penrith has a traditional town centre with many independent shops but also has supermarkets; Booths, Morrison's, Aldi, Sainsbury's and M&S Food Hall. Also there is the outstanding Cranston's Food Hall with Oswald's Cafe. For camping/ caravanning, outdoor needs there is Go-outdoors and Caravan Supplies Penrith
