About this site

Dale Hey Farm Touring Caravan Site is a family run touring park on Preston Road at Ribchester, less than a mile from the Roman village and the River Ribble, with its own broadleaved woodland to wander. John and Catherine run the place, and the site sits high enough to give you views across the Ribble Valley in most directions. The Ribble Way and a spread of local cycle routes start nearby, Ribchester and its Roman museum are a 10 to 15 minute walk down the hill past the White Bull and the Ribchester Arms, and Longridge and Clitheroe are both short drives. Every pitch is hardstanding with grass in between, and the toilet and shower block is heated with showers free of charge. Dale Hey takes caravans, motorhomes, campervans and trailer tents only, so tent campers need to look elsewhere in Lancashire, and there is no space for RVs or fifth wheelers. Wood fires and fire pits are not allowed, though gas and charcoal barbecues are fine kept off the ground. Two dogs per unit are welcome on a lead, and the £32 nightly rate covers two adults, two children, an awning, both dogs and one car, which makes it good value for a family. The site reopens on 1 April 2026 after closing for winter, and booking is by phone or email.

Good to know

Can you pitch a tent at Dale Hey Farm Touring Caravan Site?
No, the site takes caravans, motorhomes, campervans and trailer tents only, and every pitch is hardstanding. Trailer tents fit on the hardstanding, but if you have a particularly large awning you should say so when booking. RVs and fifth wheelers are not accepted at all.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, up to two dogs per unit are welcome and there is no extra charge, as both dogs are included in the nightly price. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on site. The broadleaved woodland walks on the farm are the main draw for dog owners here.
Are campfires or fire pits allowed?
No, Dale Hey does not permit wood fires, rubbish fires or fire pits, because of damage to the ground and trees and the smoke it creates. Gas and charcoal barbecues are allowed, but they must be kept at least six inches off the ground.
How much does a pitch cost per night?
£32 a night including electric hook up, and that covers two adults, two children, an awning, two dogs and one car. Extra adults or children are £2 each, an extra vehicle is £5. Bank holidays are £36 a night. A week is £220 outside bank holidays.
What are the opening dates?
The site closes over winter and reopens on 1 April 2026, ready for Easter. Weekend bookings are a minimum of two nights, Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday, and there are no Sunday arrivals. Easter carries a three night minimum. Advance booking is essential by phone or email.
How far is Ribchester village?
Less than a mile, and a 10 to 15 minute walk downhill into the village. Ribchester has a Roman museum, a Spar, and several pubs including the White Bull and the Ribchester Arms. It is uphill on the way back, which is worth knowing after dinner.
