Why campers love it here
About this site
Doone Valley Campsite is a family camping site at Malmsmead, on the Devon side of Exmoor National Park near Brendon and Lynton in North Devon. The camping fields are level and bordered by a shallow stream that is safe for children to paddle in, with easy access through the neighbouring National Park car park. It is a back-to-basics site with toilets and showers rather than hook-ups, and campfires are allowed with logs sold on site, so it suits tent campers and small groups who want simple Exmoor camping close to walking and riding country. Two separate fields can be hired whole for group camps, which makes Doone Valley Campsite a good fit for clubs, scouts or a family gathering, with discounts on parties of ten or more. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads. The location is walking distance from Malmsmead and the Lorna Doone country made famous by the novel, with fishing and horse riding nearby and the coast at Lynmouth a short drive away, and the site can even accommodate your own horse. This is not the place for anyone after electric pitches, a clubhouse or hardstanding, but for stream-side Exmoor camping near Brendon in North Devon it does the job. Doone Valley Campsite opens from March to October, and bookings go through the farm direct.
