Set across three sheltered, landscaped terraces in the south east corner of the North York Moors National Park, Golden Square Caravan and Camping Park is a 5 star family park near Helmsley with panoramic views over farm, forest and moorland. The park sits at Oswaldkirk in North Yorkshire, close to Ampleforth, with Helmsley's market square a short drive away and York 22 miles south. Touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans and tents all get a choice of pitches: grass, hardstanding, screened individual spots, Astroturf tent pitches and all service pitches with water, drainage, TV hook-up and a picnic table, with family areas near the playground and quieter corners for those after peace. Note that the statics are privately owned with no hire fleet, groups are capped at three units, and open fires are banned (raised charcoal barbecues are fine). Children are properly catered for with two outdoor play areas, an indoor games room, crazy golf and a football field, and the park has added a brand new indoor padel court, an on site shop and off licence, and a dog exercise field for the maximum two dogs per pitch. Awards include AA 5 Gold Pennants and a David Bellamy gold conservation award. Golden Square is open from 1 March to 31 October, with standard pitches from £30.50 a night including electric hook-up and hiker or cyclist pitches from £12.
