Why campers love it here
About this site
Gwithian Farm Campsite is a family run touring campsite in the centre of Gwithian village near Hayle in west Cornwall, a 10 minute walk from 3 miles of sandy, lifeguarded beach. The site sits behind a 16th century thatched farmhouse, opposite the Red River Inn, with St Ives 8 miles away, Hayle and its shops 2 miles away and the A30 2 miles from the gate. Every pitch measures at least 10m by 10m: 38 are hardstanding with 16 amp electric for caravans and motorhomes, the rest grass with or without hook up for tents, campervans and trailer tents. There are no statics and no glamping, and peak summer carries a 5 night minimum stay, so it suits campers who want a proper touring site rather than a holiday park. Beyond the spotless shower block (free hot showers, a family shower room and a children's bathroom) there is a well stocked shop, a laundry, wetsuit and bodyboard hire, visiting food trucks serving fish and chips, pizza and curry, barista coffee from the Goat Shack, and two resident goats, Mindy and Rosie. Guests at Gwithian Farm Campsite get 10 percent off lessons at Gwithian Academy of Surfing, and the middle stretch of the beach at Mexico Towans welcomes dogs all year. BBQs raised on bricks are fine; campfires and fire pits are not. The 2026 season runs from 1 April to 12 October with pitches from £24 a night in Cornwall's quieter months.
