About this site

Gwithian Farm Campsite is a family run touring campsite in the centre of Gwithian village near Hayle in west Cornwall, a 10 minute walk from 3 miles of sandy, lifeguarded beach. The site sits behind a 16th century thatched farmhouse, opposite the Red River Inn, with St Ives 8 miles away, Hayle and its shops 2 miles away and the A30 2 miles from the gate. Every pitch measures at least 10m by 10m: 38 are hardstanding with 16 amp electric for caravans and motorhomes, the rest grass with or without hook up for tents, campervans and trailer tents. There are no statics and no glamping, and peak summer carries a 5 night minimum stay, so it suits campers who want a proper touring site rather than a holiday park. Beyond the spotless shower block (free hot showers, a family shower room and a children's bathroom) there is a well stocked shop, a laundry, wetsuit and bodyboard hire, visiting food trucks serving fish and chips, pizza and curry, barista coffee from the Goat Shack, and two resident goats, Mindy and Rosie. Guests at Gwithian Farm Campsite get 10 percent off lessons at Gwithian Academy of Surfing, and the middle stretch of the beach at Mexico Towans welcomes dogs all year. BBQs raised on bricks are fine; campfires and fire pits are not. The 2026 season runs from 1 April to 12 October with pitches from £24 a night in Cornwall's quieter months.

Good to know

Are dogs allowed at Gwithian Farm Campsite?
Yes, a maximum of 2 dogs per pitch are welcome by prior arrangement at £2 per dog per night, kept on leads and exercised off site. The dog friendly stretch of Gwithian beach at Mexico Towans is a 10 to 12 minute walk away, with the whole beach open to dogs from 6pm to 10am in summer.
Can you have campfires or BBQs at Gwithian Farm Campsite?
No, campfires, fire pits and wood burners of any kind are not permitted due to fire regulations. BBQs are allowed, and low ones just need raising on the builders bricks kept by the water taps around the site so the grass underneath is not scorched.

Pitches cost from £24 a night for a non electric pitch and £30 with a 16 amp hook up, including 2 people, a vehicle and an awning. Peak July and August rates are £40 and £46 with a 5 night minimum, and booking needs an £80 deposit per pitch per week.
When is Gwithian Farm Campsite open in 2026?
The 2026 season runs from 1 April to 12 October, and the site is not open over winter. The campsite is already fully booked from 26 July until the last week of August 2026, so book well ahead or aim for June, September or early October instead.
How far is the beach from Gwithian Farm Campsite?
Gwithian beach is a 10 to 12 minute walk from the campsite through the village and across the dunes. It is a 3 mile sandy beach with lifeguards in season, known for safe bathing and surfing, and guests get 10 percent off lessons and hire at Gwithian Academy of Surfing.
What pitch types does Gwithian Farm Campsite offer?
The site takes tents, touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents, roof tents and folding campers, with no statics or glamping. All pitches measure at least 10m by 10m: 38 are hardstanding with electric for caravans and motorhomes, and the rest are grass with hook up or non electric.
