About this site

Helford River Camping is a members only Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site at Halanoweth in St Martin, near Helston in Cornwall, with views over the tidal Helford River from most of its pitches. The site sits on the Lizard Peninsula, 6 miles from Helston (the nearest supermarket and launderette) and 1 mile from Mawgan Stores, with the Gear Farm Pasty Co bakery directly across the road. Fifteen pitches occupy 1.5 acres of level mown grass within a 7 acre west facing field: 5 take caravans, motorhomes and campervans, 10 take tents and trailer tents, 10 have electric hook ups and one hardstanding is available on request. You need Club membership to stay, and anyone after bars, entertainment or a big shower block should pitch elsewhere: facilities run to 2 flush toilets, 2 solar heated hot showers, a chemical disposal point and outdoor dishwashing. The water is the draw here. Guests launch kayaks and paddleboards from Gweek or Helford village, the wooded creekside walk to Tremayne Quay is around 6km there and back, and the sandy National Trust beaches at Church Cove and Poldhu are 6.5 miles away, with Kynance Cove at 10.5 miles. Dogs are welcome on leads, with a designated dog walk on site. Helford River Camping opens from 3 April to 30 September in 2026, with pitches from £16 a night plus £5 for electric hook up, a brilliant value base for the Lizard and west Cornwall.
