About this site

Holme Valley Camping and Caravan Park is a family-run campsite set across 16 acres of woodland and meadow near Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, on the edge of the Peak District. It lies at Thongsbridge, a couple of miles from Holmfirth town centre and roughly 7 miles south of Huddersfield, with Holme Valley walking country and the national park boundary close by. There are grass and hard standing pitches for tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans, all with electric hook-ups, alongside glamping in camping cabins, a lakeside cabin and a Fern Dome. Families are welcome, with a woodland play area built in 2022, so it suits campers who want space and activity rather than an adults-only retreat. Three generations of the same family run the park, there is a licensed shop with eco-friendly refill options, two heated shower blocks with accessible facilities, and dogs are welcome on a lead. Holme Valley is open all year, closing only briefly over Christmas, with pitches from £15 a night and glamping from £49 a night.

Good to know

Are dogs allowed at Holme Valley?
Yes, dogs are welcome all year and the surrounding woodland is good for walks. They must be kept on a lead everywhere on the park. Two of the four camping cabins are dog friendly, so if you want to bring a dog to a glamping unit, book one of those.
Can I bring a tent?
Yes, Holme Valley takes tents as well as caravans, motorhomes and campervans, on grass and hard standing pitches with electric hook-ups. If you prefer a roof over your head, there are also glamping options including camping cabins, a lakeside cabin and a Fern Dome dotted around the site.
Is Holme Valley suitable for families?
Yes, families are welcome and children are well catered for. A woodland play area built in 2022 gives space for biking, ball games, den building and nature trails. With 16 acres of woodland and meadow to explore, it works well for family camping trips rather than an adults-only break.
Is Holme Valley open all year?
Yes, the park is open all year and closes only briefly over the Christmas period. It sits on the edge of the Peak District near Holmfirth, so it works as a base in the quieter seasons as well as summer, though facilities and glamping should be booked ahead.
How much are pitches and glamping?
Camping pitches start from £15 a night and glamping from £49 a night, with units such as the Fern Dome and the larger cabins priced higher. Rates vary by unit, season and party size, so check the park's booking system for exact prices on your dates.
How far is Holme Valley from Holmfirth and the Peak District?
Holme Valley sits at Thongsbridge, a couple of miles from Holmfirth town centre and around 7 miles from Huddersfield. The park is on the edge of the Peak District National Park, with the Holme Valley walking routes and 16 acres of its own woodland and meadow right on the doorstep.
