Humblescough Farm

Humblescough Farm is a small regenerative sheep farm at Nateby, near Garstang, where the guest accommodation is a single hand built shepherd's hut tucked into a corner of the farm's caravan site, looking out over a restored wildlife pond. Nateby is under two miles from Garstang, about ten minutes by car, with the Bowland Fells filling the eastern skyline, Beacon Fell around six miles away and Blackpool roughly eleven miles west. The hut sleeps two and is adults only. Inside there is a fixed bed, a folding table, a small kitchen with sink, microwave and fridge, and a bathroom with a shower and an electric towel radiator. Bedding is not provided, so pack a double sheet, duvet and cover, pillows and pillowcases. There are no pets, no WiFi and steps up to the door, which rules out dog owners, families with young children and anyone with limited mobility. The farm itself is the reason to come: no chemical fertilisers or herbicides, a six acre wood with an ancient bluebell patch, a fen dug for wading birds, and nest boxes that tree sparrows, barn owls, kestrels and tawny owls all use. It is dark enough here for proper star gazing, and a firepit with locally sourced wood hires for £12 a night. Humblescough Farm takes hut bookings from Easter to the end of September at £70 a night for two adults, minimum two nights.
