Hunger Hill Yurts

Hunger Hill Yurts is a small glamping site in the East Devon countryside near Newton Poppleford, offering back-to-nature family holidays in cosy, wood-stove-heated yurts. It sits on a two-acre meadow small holding on the edge of an RSPB reserve, close to the River Otter and within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast beaches between Exmouth and Lyme Regis, with Sidmouth a short drive away. There are five yurts (four Meadow yurts sharing a farmhouse-style kitchen and facilities, plus a more private Orchard yurt with its own kitchen), each furnished with comfy beds, rugs, sheepskins and a wood-burning stove, and lit by fairy lights and lanterns. Campfires are part of the experience, with logs provided, and there are hammocks and a shared marquee for gathering. The yurts share the meadow with kune kune pigs, chickens and ducks, which makes Hunger Hill Yurts a hit with children, though this is glamping rather than a pitch-your-own-tent campsite, with no touring pitches or electric hook-ups. The site is open from April to October, with stays booked directly with the owners.
