About this site

Moss Wood Caravan Park is a five star, family run touring and holiday home park set in 30 acres on Crimbles Lane at Cockerham, near Lancaster, with its own coarse fishing lake and a woodland walk that forms part of the route into the village. The park sits in flat Lancashire farmland behind the Cockerham coast, and it works as a base for the Forest of Bowland, Glasson Dock, Garstang and Lancaster, with Blackpool and Preston both an easy drive away. There are 31 touring pitches, all level hard standings with 16 amp electric hook up, water and drainage, taking caravans, motorhomes and campervans. The pitch price covers up to two adults and two children, one vehicle, free Wi-Fi hotspots and use of the facilities, and awnings are not charged extra, which is not something every park can say. Facilities run to a heated shower block, a well stocked shop, a laundrette, a children's play area and a nature trail. Dogs are welcome at £2 a night each, and the fishing lake costs £5 per 24 hours on top. Moss Wood is a touring park rather than a tent campsite, so campers under canvas need to look elsewhere in Lancashire, and a two night minimum applies during peak season dates. The park is open from March to November, and low season pitches start from £29.50 a night.

Good to know

Is Moss Wood dog friendly?
Yes, Moss Wood is a dog friendly park and has been a finalist in the Dog Friendly Awards. Dogs are charged £2 per dog per night, and you need to state how many you are bringing when you book. There is a woodland walk and a nature trail on site, plus a route through to Cockerham village.
Can I pitch a tent at Moss Wood?
No, Moss Wood is a touring caravan park rather than a tent campsite. The 31 touring pitches are level hardstandings designed for caravans, motorhomes and campervans with awnings. If you are camping under canvas you will need a different site in the Lancaster area.
What are the opening dates?
The touring park is open from March to November each year, so it covers spring, summer and autumn breaks but closes over winter. A minimum stay of two nights applies during peak season dates. Advance booking is recommended and is essential for peak season, school holidays and bank holiday weekends.
How much is a touring pitch per night?
Low season pitches start from £29.50 a night midweek and £34.75 at weekends. High and peak season pitches are £35.00 midweek and £39.00 at weekends. Prices include VAT and cover up to two adults and two children with one towing vehicle. Extra adults and children are £3.50 each and an extra vehicle is £5.50.
Is there electric hook up and drainage?
Yes, every one of the 31 touring pitches is a level hardstanding with 16 amp electric hook up, water and drainage included as standard. Free Wi-Fi hotspots and use of the site facilities are also included in the pitch price, and there is no additional charge for awnings.
Is there fishing on site?
Yes, Moss Wood has its own well stocked coarse fishing lake within the 30 acre park. Fishing is not included in the pitch fee and costs £5 per 24 hours. The touring field looks out across the lake and the surrounding countryside, and there is a nature trail and woodland walk on site too.
