Why campers love it here
About this site
Mount Douglas Farm Campsite is a small, traditional tent and campervan site on a horse-grazing farm in Carbis Bay near St Ives, Cornwall, with summer camping from £8 per adult a night. The site sits on Trencrom Lane, a 20-minute walk from Carbis Bay beach, with buses to St Ives stopping 5 minutes away, the coast path reaching St Ives in a hilly 40 minutes on foot, and both Tate St Ives and the Hayle Estuary nature reserve about 2 miles away. Electric grass pitches spread across two open fields take tents, roof tents and campervans, but touring caravans are not accepted and there is no glamping or hardstanding, so this is a spot for campers who like things simple. The pricing and the housekeeping stand out: adults pay £8 a night (children aged 4 to 12 £4, hook-up £7, dogs £1.50, vehicles £2), campfires and BBQs are positively encouraged with fire pits to hire and firewood for sale, and campers on Tripadvisor rate the site 4.7 out of 5, repeatedly praising spotless showers, friendly owners and a peaceful atmosphere. Fridges, freezers, a washing machine and a tumble dryer are all available to campers. Mount Douglas opens for summer only, 27 June to 6 September in 2026, and takes bookings by email or the website enquiry form rather than by phone.
