Noongallas Campsite

Noongallas Campsite is a tents and small campervans only site on a hillside farm at Gulval, 2.6 miles from Penzance railway station in west Cornwall, where campfires are positively encouraged. Pitches sit on sheltered grass terraces stepping down to a woodland valley, with views over Mounts Bay and across to the moors and old engine houses of West Penwith. Penzance is a 10 minute drive, Chysauster Ancient Village sits about a mile up the lane, and St Michael's Mount at Marazion is roughly 4 miles away, though the beach is not on the doorstep: the nearest sand at Long Rock is about 3 miles by road. The access lane is narrow, winding and shared with a working dairy farm, so caravans, motorhomes and large vehicles are ruled out, and with no electric hookups this is a spot for proper back to basics campers rather than full service tourers. Campfires in the established fireplaces are the heart of the place, with wood at £5 a bag and acoustic music welcome until the 11pm noise curfew (speakers are not). Facilities at Noongallas stay simple and clean: free hot showers, toilets, washing up sinks and fridge freezers, and dogs on leads stay for £2 a night with lower fields and woods to roam. Booking is not essential, payment is cash only on arrival, and adults camp from £10 a night, a proper bargain for this corner of Cornwall.
