About this site

Piggies Camping is a small touring campsite at Ruthvoes near St Columb in mid Cornwall, taking tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans on quiet grass pitches within five minutes of both the A30 and A39. The location does the heavy lifting: Newquay and its surfing beaches (Fistral, Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth, Porth Beach) are five to eight miles away, Padstow and St Austell are each an easy drive, and the Eden Project, the Screech Owl Sanctuary (a mile up the lane) and the National Cycle Network are all within reach. Each plot takes one unit and one vehicle, with electric hook-up available plus seasonal pitches and caravan storage; there is no glamping and no clubhouse or entertainment, so campers after evening amusements are better served by the big Newquay holiday parks. The toilet block is the stand-out feature, with two large showers and two toilets on each side, an accessible wet room and a washing-up area, and recent visitors consistently mention the clean facilities and the personal welcome at Piggies. Dogs are welcome, children under 5 stay free, and rallies and clubs are catered for. A plot for a caravan, tent or motorhome with two people costs from £17 a night with hook-up at £6, booked directly through the site office in Cornwall's St Columb.
