Why campers love it here
About this site
Ponsandane Campsite is a summer-only camping field on the eastern edge of Penzance in west Cornwall, set in 5 acres of level parkland a few minutes' walk from the beaches of Mounts Bay. Mature trees screen the field from the road, a stream runs along its eastern boundary, and a Tesco sits next door with a pedestrian gate straight into the site. Penzance town centre, with its railway and bus stations, is a 10 minute walk, so it works brilliantly for car-free trips; the village pub at Gulval is closer still, and St Michael's Mount at Marazion is about 3 miles along the bay. Tents, campervans, motorhomes and touring caravans are all welcome (there is no glamping and no hardstanding), and pricing is per person rather than per pitch, so it suits couples and families on a budget more than anyone after serviced pitches. Two toilet and shower blocks include 7 individual wet rooms added in 2021, there is a dishwashing room with fridge freezers and laundry, and a takeaway cafe on the field cooks breakfasts and light lunches. Campfires are allowed and dogs stay for £2 a night, with a maximum of two per pitch. Ponsandane opens for the summer months only, with adults from £8 a night in 2026 and bookings taken through a request form on the operator's website.
