Why campers love it here
About this site
Pitches: 170 Opening Dates: Open All Year Postern Hill is located in the Savernake Forest, which is privately owned by the Earl of Cardigan and his family. The luscious green canopy of oak trees makes the woodland ideal for walking and cycling. If its woodland wildlife you're interested in, this is a good spot for watching bats - eleven different species have been recorded here. There is a toilet block with hot and cold running water, but there are no showers on the site and dogs are welcome. The site received an Award of Special Distinction in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards. A twenty-minute walk will take you into the historic market town of Marlborough, recorded in the Domesday Book in 1097. Theres a supermarket, post office, pubs, restaurants and other shops in the town centre. Other nearby attractions include Longleat Safari Park, Avebury Stone Circle, Stonehenge, and the Kennet and Avon canals.
