About this site

Primrose Farm Holidays is a family run glamping, touring and camping site at Penstraze near Chacewater in Cornwall, with 60 grass pitches, six safari tents with private hot tubs, and a farm bar and cafe that opened in 2024. The site sits just off the A390 about 4 miles west of Truro, in Cornwall's mining heritage landscape, with the surf beaches at Porthtowan and Perranporth roughly 4 and 5 miles away and Truro Cathedral a 10 minute drive east. Touring pitches measure at least 9m by 10m, with 33 offering electric hook-up and 27 without, suiting caravans, motorhomes and tents; the site is geared to families and couples rather than anyone after an adults only retreat, and each pitch includes parking for one car only. Beyond the new shower block, laundry and wash-up area, Primrose Farm's stand-out extras are its campfires (firepits for hire, firewood and kindling sold on site, fires raised 12 inches off the ground) and the safari tents (Buttercup, Bluebell, Primrose, Tulip, Foxglove and Clover), each sleeping five with an en-suite and log fired stove, joined in 2025 by Oak View Lodge. Up to 2 well behaved dogs stay per pitch for an extra charge, there is a two night minimum outside high season, and prices are quoted through the operator's online booking system.
