About this site

Rising Sun Farm Certificated Site is a family-friendly Camping and Caravanning Club CS on a working farm at the top of Cartworth Moor, above Holmfirth. It sits at around HD9 2TU on the high ground about 1.5 miles from the centre of Holmfirth, roughly a 20 minute walk downhill into town, with the village of Holme and the climb to Holme Moss close by on the edge of the Peak District. The views over the moors are a big part of the appeal at Rising Sun Farm, and cyclists come for the 2014 Tour de France route that runs from Holmfirth up to Holme Moss. The site welcomes tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans, with electric hook-up available, and as a working farm it gives a real countryside feel with animals around. Unlike some small CS sites, it has proper facilities: toilets, showers, water points and a chemical disposal point, which makes it workable for families and tent campers, not just self-contained tourers. Dogs are welcome. As a CS it takes up to five caravans or motorhomes plus tents, so book ahead in peak season. Reviewers praise the welcoming owners, the upkeep and those long moorland views. The site is open all year. You need to be a Camping and Caravanning Club member, and booking is arranged through the Club.
