School Barn Farm Yurt is a two-yurt glamping site on farmland at Pentlow, on the Essex side of the Suffolk border a few miles west of Sudbury, and it is yurts only: there are no tent, caravan or motorhome pitches here at all. That is worth knowing first, because if you are towing a caravan or planning to pitch your own tent, this is not the site for you. The two yurts are listed as available all year, and campfires are allowed, which makes the colder months a real option rather than an afterthought. There is no electric hook-up. Pentlow is a small Stour Valley parish of a couple of hundred people sitting just south of the river, with Foxearth and Cavendish as its neighbours and Sudbury railway station about four miles away. The village has one of only six round-towered churches in Essex, which tells you how quiet and how old this corner is. Dogs are not accepted, and there is a play area on site. One honest warning: the School Barn Farm website no longer loads, and current prices, opening arrangements and booking availability are all unconfirmed.
