Selby Camping and Caravan Site is a small, no-frills Certificated Location on Bridge Farm at Carlton, set between Snaith and Goole in East Yorkshire. Despite the name, the site sits east of Selby itself, in flat, quiet countryside close to the River Aire. The Trans Pennine Trail runs right past the front of the site, which makes it a genuinely handy overnight stop for walkers and cyclists as well as a peaceful base for exploring the area. There is room for around 15 pitches across grass and hardstanding, taking tents, caravans, motorhomes and small campervans, with electric hook-up available. As a Certificated Location the set-up is deliberately simple and low-key rather than a big holiday park, so it suits self-contained campers who like things calm. Non-members are welcome as well as club members. Dogs are welcome too, and the towpaths and trail give easy walking straight from the pitch. The site is well placed for the motorway network, with the A1, M62 and M18 all close for onward travel, and Carlton Towers, a grand Victorian country house, is nearby for a day out.
