Why campers love it here
About this site
Sleningford Watermill Caravan & Camping Park is a 20 acre family run touring and camping park on the banks of the River Ure at North Stainley, about 5 miles north of Ripon in North Yorkshire. The same family welcome has been offered here for more than 50 years, with pitches spread between mature woodland, open meadow and the old watermill itself. Campers, caravanners and motorhome owners choose between hardstanding pitches with electric hook up, premium grass electric pitches and cheaper off grid grass pitches, while a small studio flat, Watermill Lodge, sleeps two beside the river. The riverside setting is the real draw: paddlers launch canoes straight from the park with a Pitch and Paddle add on, and fly fishing is available on the Ure. It is a deliberately quiet site with gates locked from 11pm to 6am, so campers after late night entertainment should look elsewhere; families, walkers and nature lovers will be properly sorted, and up to three dogs per pitch are welcome. A licensed shop, heated showers, laundry and a book exchange cover the practical side, and the park has run conservation projects across its grounds since 2000. Sleningford Watermill opens from 1 April to 31 October, with pitches from £30.50 a night including two people and a car.
