About this site

Southdown Certificated Site is a small, family-run Camping and Caravanning Club site on a 60-acre farm at Yarnscombe, near Barnstaple in North Devon. It sits high in open countryside with panoramic views over Exmoor and Dartmoor, and on a clear day you can see across to Bideford Bay and Lundy Island. As a five-pitch Certificated Site it takes tents, caravans and motorhomes, with electric hook-ups, hot showers and bathroom facilities on hand, so it is a step up from the most basic sites while staying small and peaceful. It suits tourers, couples and families who want space and views rather than a big park, and the same farm runs Southdown Adventure, with quad biking, buggies and clay shooting if you fancy some activity. The location is handy, roughly four miles from Torrington, eight from Barnstaple and six from Bideford, with the Tarka Trail, North Devon beaches and RHS Rosemoor all within reach. There is even a bus stop at the entrance on the Barnstaple to Torrington route, so you can visit without a car. Dogs are welcome on leads. Southdown gives you a quiet, view-filled North Devon base near Barnstaple that stays open year-round.
