Standedge Caravan And Campsite (carriage House)

Standedge Caravan and Campsite, also known as the Carriage House, is a small touring and camping site high on the Pennines at Standedge, near Marsden and Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. It sits on Manchester Road on the moor tops beside the National Trust's Marsden Moor Estate, with the Standedge Tunnel and visitor centre, Marsden village and the Wessenden valley walks all close by. The site takes tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans, with around ten hardstanding pitches plus camping, electric hook up available, and toilets and showers on site. The camping sits next to a cottage that was once a moor top pub, which gives it a bit of history. This is a spot for walkers, cyclists and tourers who want open moorland and big Pennine skies rather than a facility packed park, so anyone after entertainment or a play area should look elsewhere. Marsden has a railway station on the Huddersfield to Manchester line, so you can leave the car and head into the hills on foot, and the Standedge Tunnel boat trips and towpath are a short walk.
