Why campers love it here
About this site
Sweet Meadows & Wild Woods Country Holidays is a tiny, tucked-away campsite spread across nearly seven acres on the north-eastern edge of Dartmoor. You will find it at Clifford Bridge near Drewsteignton in north Devon, deep in the Teign Valley beside Fingle Woods, with forest walks a quarter of a mile away, Dunsford Woods nature reserve half a mile off, and wild swimming in the River Teign around three-quarters of a mile from the pitches. This is a place for tents and small camper vans only. The single-track lanes into the site cannot take large motorhomes, so leave the big rig at home and pack light. Pitches are informal, with plenty of niches to hide away in, and campfires are part of the deal. Families do well here thanks to the tree house, dens, swings, stream and open woodland, while walkers can reach Fingle Bridge and Castle Drogo on foot. Facilities are simple rather than luxurious, and booking ahead is strongly advised as space is limited. Bring binoculars and a torch, because near Drewsteignton the light pollution is low and the stargazing at Sweet Meadows is genuinely good.
