Ten Acres Vineyard

Ten Acres Vineyard is a small, laid-back campsite set beside a working vineyard at Winkleigh, in the rolling countryside of North Devon. The one-acre site has around nine spacious grass pitches with a whole field next door for children and dogs to run about, plus a shady woodland with hammocks for hot afternoons. Ten Acres Vineyard takes tents and campervans only; the access is not suitable for large motorhomes over six metres or towing vehicles, so touring caravanners should look elsewhere. Facilities are deliberately simple, with a hot shower and two compost loos, some electric sockets and a freezer for campers, and off-ground fires and a shared fire pit are allowed. What sets it apart is the vineyard itself: the on-site Devon Wine Shack sells the estate's sparkling and still wines alongside local ales, ciders and camping basics, and there are weekly winery tours and tastings through the season. Dogs are welcome on a lead as there are sheep, pigs and hens about, and glamping is available too if you would rather not pitch. Camping costs from £12 a night for adults and £6 for children aged five to sixteen, with under-fives and dogs free. Ten Acres Vineyard is open from May to the end of September; Friday and Saturday arrivals need a two-night minimum stay.
